Igen Hatching Sands

Oriapeth is stretched out behind her clutch. The eggs are arranged in whatever fashion makes sense to the queen, except for one, the light never touches this egg, which at random is nestled between her talons presently. Iwa waits at the edge of the sands, murmuring a few instructions to candidates "… she may seem to be sleeping, and even if she is BOW." I mean, it's not like the queen is extra super broody or anything, right? Other than that, don't fall over or threaten the shells and you'll be just fine. or at least mostly fine, well you'll see. She shoos the gathered candidates out to the deceptively still ovoids.

Apheli bows low to Oriapeth before approaching the egg nearest her. She lays her fingertips on the egg and shudders, snatching her hand back as soon as the vision fades. Creepy. Definitely creepy.

Apheli more carefully considers the eggs this time, shifting from foot to foot on the hot sands. There, that one over there looks okay. Possibly. She makes her way around the egg mound with a glance at the gold dragon, juuuuuust in case.

Iwa rolls her eyes at one of the candidates "No, does that look like Toruth, but I've been on the sands enough to know what's what." hmph, they'll be needing some lessons on who's who around the Weyr it seems. The last of the group spreads out and what might have been tentative steps quickly enough become more hot footed maneuvers as they get both a feel for eggs ad sands. She roams, watching as much as any broody queen but a bit more approachable, answering questions softly here and there or offering a word of encouragement you wouldn't necessarily hear otherwise from the grounds' occupants

Apheli makes a face of disgust as she pulls her hand away from the egg, flexing her fingers as if trying to get something sticky off of them. The egg compels her, though, her own curiosity winning out to see if there's anything else it can tell her. She reaches for it again, only touching with her fingertips this time

T'syn isn't here. Well, okay, he's not *down* here. One might wonder why he's up in the galleries given his apparent attitude towards Odissa, but there's no accounting for the vagaries of greenriders, particularly ones so newly unproddy. Leaning on the railing, he watches the Candidates below, expression pleasantly vague.

Apheli will have plenty of questions to ponder in her cot tonight, that much is for certain, for this egg seems to have a lot of them for her. The air of despair the egg gave off clings to her, and she wraps her arms around herself with a shiver. Once more into the breach, then? May as well find out what other questions this egg has.

Iwa moves quietly up to one of the younger candidates as they yelp and pull their hand back from the shell of one of the eggs. "I thought i was being burned." she lad looks at his hand which is perfectly fine and wiggles his fingers." Iwa looks sympathetically "Well I've been told these eggs are rather strong minded, compared to some of the clutches we've had. Don't worry, they won't actually hurt you. By getting to know you now it'll help avoid incidents come hatching day." he looks thoughtful and then looks at the egg again but decides to move on, giving it wide birth as he reaches for a different one some distance away.

Apheli hums. The egg is quiet now and she lets go one last time, ready to move on to a different egg. Maybe a more cheerful one. Or not, these eggs all look kind of sinister. That one in the middle looks interesting, and she picks her way through the eggs to get to it. [room 237 Egg]

Apheli frowns. This is definitely not a cheerful egg. She feels chastised and about five turns old at the moment. Still, she leaves her hand there, curious as ever to see if the egg has anything else to tell her. What will it be waiting for? Her? Something or someone else? Who can tell.

Apheli has done exactly what she was told not to do and falls over as the vision leaves her. Weird. So weird. She leaps to her feet because the sands are /HOT/ and ponders just what all that was about. Turn's end? And why did she agree to that drink?

Iwa casts a glace towards the galleries, there's always someone or other around, until she hears some commotion and moves closer to Apheli, checking on the candidate though they've already gotten to their feet "You alright?"

Apheli nods at Iwa. "The egg… I fell over," she says, stating the obvious. "Yeah, I'm fine. No lasting damage, just to my dignity," she says with a quiet chuckle. "I'll be okay."

T'syn isn't making any effort to hide. Of course, he's also not trying to draw attention to himself. Really, he's just here, all innocent and stuff. Also, he has a seaside cottage a few lengths beyond the Weyr he'd like to sell you if you believe that.

Iwa eyes Apheli up and down, but the other truly does seem fine. Well, not like the eggs can just leap out and knock anyone over, yet. "Alright, well do be careful the sands are a bit… uneven in places." yeah, well close enough. Her attention moves on as she visually checks on each candidate i the group.

Apheli dashes a single tear away from her cheek. Physically, yeah, she's fine. Mentally, well, that egg has given her a lot to think about. Yet she soldiers on, looking for one more egg to touch tonight. They've all been weird so far, what's a little more weirdness to round out the evening? She doesn't go far for her next egg, just moving over by one.

Apheli shivers, glancing around. That feeling that she's being watched lingers but maybe it's just that greenrider who Searched her up in the galleries. Her feet are firmly planted on the sands this time, at least. [long memory of violence egg]

Apheli is beginning to damn her curiosity, that's for certain. The hostile feeling of the egg has her glancing over her shoulder, yet she doesn't pull her hand away, ready to see this through to the end despite her misgiving

Apheli gasps, snatching her hand back from the egg. She miiiight be feeling a little shaky and definitely feeling like it's time to quit touching eggs for tonight. She winds her way out of the egg mound, edging her way back toward the entrance to the sands.

Iwa wipes some sweat away, and observes another candidate fall. Good thing for touchings indeed, that would be so dangerous during the actual hatching. Still perhaps there is already a bit of egg fatigue, or maybe its the heat but she clears her throat. Harper training kicks in and she projects out clearly, without needing to be all that loud "Alright folks. That seems enough for now, let's take a brake and get some chill juice in the caverns."

Apheli is more than happy to leave the eggs behind for tonight. "Yeah. Juice in the caverns sounds like an /excellent/ idea," she mutters, turning to head that way.
