Iwa can't entirely escape the sands but at least the broody Toruth is allowing her some distance from the direct heat. The clutch has migrated toward the galleries and her rider enters again at her summons. "Yup, I still see eggs dear." as the queen mantles her wings, talons teasing the mountain guardian egg into a VERY slightly different position. Hear head angles over, rumbling something to which Iwa just tosses up her hands and then then steps back from the edge to look for a spot from where she'll apparently be working for the next hour or three.

Oddisa is not bound by the sands and is free to flounce around she pleases. The spring season has brought foaling. The junior has been kept mildly busy around Igen and the outlying areas answering emergency summons for help or opinions; her new role has taken her out of the nitty-gritty work into a more 'overseer'. As the hatching draws nearer, it's not unlike her to walk through and take a once over of each egg, a check-in of sorts. Walking up the stairs, Iwa is spotted and given a tiny wave, eyes focused on her task as each egg is squinted at and giving a nod. "It's oer soon; they're always the worst closer to hatchin'." Offering the blonde by way of encouragement.

Iwa has flopped onto a segment of open seating, which actually most of the gallery is empty at the moment because there isn't much going on and a lot of folks are still out in the fields, or packing things to come back. There is a satchel with some papers sticking out for her review at some point but which are as yet untouched as she just looks back sandwards. Oddisa's arrival is noted with a quick wave in reply to her own, waiting as the other gives the eggs a good looking over. "At least it won't be THAT much longer. I'm not sure why she's so fussy they known what to do afterall." but she clearly appreciates the meager sympathy. Toruth snuffs a bit and eventually settles back down satisfied things are well for now. "Going to add dragonhealer to your repertoire?" she asks generally "Toruth's quite comfortable with you out there, and isn't Ligeia in that field too?"

Oriapeth also came to look, landing on a ledge high above and respectfully staring down without impeding on the broody senior queen's space. "Eh, my ma was a dragonhealer. Each clutch gives an opportunity to learn." Leaning over the rail Odi boosts herself up using her arms to support her weight and crane down at Queen's Consort egg, "They're a colorful lot, usually means healthier hatchlings." Twisting, she scoots her butt up on the rail and faces Iwa, "Mm, Lunasidhe, plus Ligeia. It's an older group, mostly, 'cept for a few boys." Unknowingly she admits to having paid attention when helping and even retaining that information. "We ready for this many weyrlings? It's a big group."

Iwa stretches a bit. "Well that is a good question." Eyes catch Oriapeth on the ledges above briefly before settling back to her rider. If you had to guess her expression might carry hints of plotting while she somehow remains relaxed. "It's been a bit of a challenge getting ready for the next step." she admits all to easily. "You can imagine we'll need a extra pair of hands to help manage and I've recruited a diversity so far to help guide but, I don't know that I'm fully satisfied just yet." the thought is left there dangling, not that she expects any volunteering per se but it's a though not entirely hidden as she sweeps on a sidetrack. "Toruth's mentioned how good you've bee corralling the candidates about during touchings. What do you think of the group.?"

The mention of needing hands gets a few quiet nods, the junior content to listen without responding for a long moment before offering. "Figure Ori's next, you'll prolly end up gettin' one group half along before adding hers to them." A tiny snort escapes as she asks about the candidates, "Mixed bag, some of em have real potential. A few are a bit immature, I worry more 'bout younger ones cuz they're not a small amount of work. Lack of sleep tends to get to them faster too. Several of the older girls are solid, one of the boys as well, a good mix of weyr, craft, and hold usually keeps the competition yu have in a full Weyr class down. " She says this as a woman who impressed at 15 and was and still is a weyrbrat. "Yu got people prepared to help the holdbred; those ones usually need the most help early on?"

Iwa listens sagely, amazing at how well the junior knows the group. Another glance up to Oriapeth. "Indeed, she's due in the next turn or so isn't she?" at least they don't have pass frequencies to deal with and Igen tends to keep a low population on top of that. Still. "You know that is an aspect I'm worried about, an keeping folks in line as well. It's hard to think how well you've guided the candidate group when they've been under your watch how, just who I can find to keep them in line in the next step. I mean, it hasn't been that may turns since you graduated. Remember how it was?" Ideas presented, quick, semi-subtle she works her way towards some goal it seems, but gently, carefully. A pair of older aunties in the far upper galleries start to take interest in the drift of the conversation, elder instincts sensing some potential gossip in the works perhaps.

Oddisa should probably quit talking and go check her runners or see if the dragon pampering has begun. Instead she says, "Well, the eggs overwhelmed a few of 'em. Kallum, Shixen, Alasse- two immature males an' a holdbred female." She is speaking of human people like runner but if you look past that you can spot her attention to detail, the kind she puts into creating cute four hooved racers. "If they impress I expect they'll need help adjustin', I remember bein' exhausted with Oriapeth." This is possibly because Oriapeth before her 5th turn was an unholy chaotic terror whose favorite form of wisdom was a mix of 'hey watch this' and 'make me'. "Yu need to keep em busy, a big group needs 'lot organization an' frequent check ins with all of em. Easy to lose a pair if you're not lookin'." Again with the runner metaphors but, it's the same thing RIGHT?

Iwa nods and nods some more. "You know I'm in complete agreement there. An I have been worried the way Toruth's been fussing over one of the eggs in particular we're about to get a bigger surprise. You know, thinking on it, it sounds like you can bring just what's needed to balance out the team. I mean considering Oriapeth'll have her turn down there soon anyhow, you could help until at least then." it's a proposal almost stated like a done deal. Brilliant Oddisa, you've just written yourself the perfect role and if time happens to escape that you're saddled a little longer with the youngsters, well Iwa'll do her best to fend off any thought of desertion in creative ways that don't involve calling it any sort of actual duty, or actual, y'know responsibility. You just happen to have the right skills and availability at the right time, that's all, right?

SUDDENLY the trap appears, Oddisa looking around and eyeing the senior Weyrwoman with a skeptical nose wrinkle that's nearing disrespectful. "I've still got my other duties, spring foals an' breeding plans. I might have a few free days a seven, possibly help cover nights an' mornings. I'm not good with children." This seems to not take into account that MOST of the class is actually older than Oddisa. "Figure yu got folks whose job it is to, tuck em in an' tell em they're special." Making it clear that person is not her. "I'd be willing to lend a hand in the evenin', an' mornin'. I'm up most nights foaling, bu' I guess with E'stel." Sliding off the rail, there's a natural air of skepticism, Oriapeth pressing in on Toruth's mind with that massive starry skyscape and bubbly anticipatory excitement tone «Ah Sweetie, they're darling.» Obviously speaking of the eggs, «DO you happen to know what yours is asking of mine? I do say Oddisa, and I would love to help, but I will need specifics.» They're a wild feel to the rosy queen; she's always on the verge of an impulsive burst of energy. She'd probably host fabulous parties.

Iwa keeps her expression fairly bland, as if this is completely routine, obvious and normal conversation. "Well I don't expect foaling'll last much longer. An you did mention to me the craftmaster hadn't quite figured out your assignment yet with your new knots. I did check and he's still considering the best use of your skills." that mighta been an interesting conversation to drop in on, looks like she's been doing some homework here. "You're definitely not their mommy." Toruth snorts, both in agreement on that fact. That isn't the skill Oddisa brings to the team it seems and the other queen arches her neck up towards her junior. Mind radiates a burst of energy, as if she's just chomped her power pellet and is on the greatest sugar high «Oh, well these dears will need a strong mind by the sounds of it. Perhaps they need a bit of you as well as your rider, I sense this will be a spirited bunch and she would know how to tame that without breaking their spirits wouldn't she?» as her rider waves a hand and continues blandly. "I'm not sure that I can trust anyone else to reinforce certain discipline like a queen can." not that it's a whole clutch of young Oriapeth's, a bit of the egg before the hatchling there, but who better to have experience at what to do? "Mind when she's stuck on the sands it'd be convenient transportation as well." Of course that might mean you'd have to do something like teach them betweening, but that's for the future to tell, and she adds the teeniest of a stick "and well if I have to deal with discipline who'll I have to handle all this paperwork!?"

The next comment has Oddisa wincing and groaning because of course, Iwa did her homework and found that the assignments had been slow as other Journeymen are being shuffled about to allow the junior to remain in her Weyr's coverage area. That in and of itself is a rank privilege extended to the weyrwoman. Oriapeth cocks her head to the side quizically as she catches the drift, and there's a swirl of cosmic gold dust about a black expanse. «Ah, I see what you're doing.» Apparently, she doesn't mind the trap laid for her rider as Oddisa eyes Iwa warily with hands stuffed in pockets assessing her Senior with sharp denim eyes. "No paperwork, night an' early mornings." Is that a yes? It's probably a yes as she says, "If I can be excused, got a bronzerider to strangle." Lovingly right? Maybe. Without another word, she's trouncing down the steps, a bit sassy, but it seems she's in. For now.

Iwa takes that as a yes, and smiles as she watches the junior head out of the sands. A hand lifts to salute to Oriapeth as well. The game, it be on, let's have a wild ride. Then there is paperwork and its with a heavier sigh that she stretches and props her legs up and digs into the satchel of problems now by her side.
